Mass.-based Cumberland Farms to sell 27 stores

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - The Massachusetts-based Cumberland Farms convenience store chain has reached an agreement to sell more than two dozen stores in New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Cumberland Farms, based in Framingham, said the 27 stores are being sold to Petroleum Marketing Group of Woodbridge, Va.
Cumberland Farms said in a statement that PMG will continue to operate all mid-Atlantic locations as convenience stores and expects all its workers to stay on with the new ownership.
Both companies are privately-owned and the price of the transaction was not disclosed.
Cumberland Farms, which started as a farm in 1939 and opened its first store in 1962, will focus on its nearly 600 remaining stores in New England, New York and Florida.
