I was wondering what others opinions and experiences have been with Travel baseball teams? My son played for the Demarini Stars this last summer and it was the biggest waste of time and money I could have imagined. We spent thousands and traveled all over the South to get absolutely no where in his goal to play College baseball.
We were promised that this team would set him up to be seen by College coaches at these showcase tournaments where the owners of the Stars program supposedly knew everyone. Ninety percent of the time there were no College Coaches anywhere near the games we were playing or they were some backwater D3 school. There was absolutely no development as the Coach was a Father who had his son on the team and was only there to look out for his best interest. When people started complaining about the lack of Coaches at games and overall frustration at the program, we were met with an even worse lack of communication and bad attitude. Carson Carroll who runs the program is the absolute worst when it comes communicating what is going on and what the direction of the program is. He is great at taking your money and putting together as many teams as he can field, but don't dare ask him why your son is not pitching in front of any College Coaches.
Obviously my experience was not good, I would never recommend anyone playing for this organization and was hoping that someone has a better group that we could play for this summer.
