Dreaming of a white Thanksgiving-eve? The National Weather Service says this afternoon’s sleet and freezing rain should change over to all snow by mid-afternoon, and may even coat us in a light blanket of white.
Cold air is filtering in from a nor’easter blowing through up the East Coast, changing the cold rain to frozen precipitation.
“Areas along and east of Interstate 95 will likely see a dusting up to an inch of snow by sunset,” the weather service said in a special weather statement Wednesday afternoon.
The snow will accumulate mainly on grassy areas because pavement temperatures remain above freezing.
The most likely area to see an inch of snow is southern Maryland, the weather service said.
Thanksgiving Day will be sunny but cold, with the high temperature only reached 36 degrees.
Tom Lombardo has his foul weather coat on as he and his dog Charlie take a morning walk through the public square at the Belmont Bay community as snow falls in Woodbridge, Va.
