Leesburg Man Charged In Two Break-ins

A suspect is in custody following two burglaries at South King Street businesses early yesterday morning.
According to the Leesburg Police Department, officers were called to the Battery Warehouse just before 1 a.m. Tuesday. In that case someone broke the glass of the front door and made entry. Officers located a suspicious person in the general vicinity and detained him.
After a witness identified the man as the suspect, Charles Preston Veney, 50, was transported to police headquarters for questioning.
At 5:30 a.m. the department got a call reporting a break-in at the Roy Rogers Restaurant. In that case, the front glass door also was broken out.
No items were reported missing from either business.
Surveillance video from both businesses also was used to confirm the identity of the suspect, police said.
