Belmont Power Equipment has Closed (2 replies)
Anybody have any details on the closing?
Over the years I have gone there for parts or to shop for power equipment. Most of the time the customer service and courtesy I received was mediocre. On one occasion they did talk me out of buying a new mower and instead suggested fixing up the worn out one I had. I appreciated that advice and my 1993 Toro is still in service today.

Manassas Teen Shoots Fairfax Teen in House Near County Government Center (6 replies)
Can't wait to learn what this was about (as if we don't already know).
Police responded at 5:40 p.m. to the home in the 4400 block of Holly Avenue for a report of gunshots heard by neighbors. The residence is near the Government Center Parkway and Lee Highway (Route 29), about a mile west of Fairfax City, and 2,000 feet from the Fairfax County Government center.
Two teens were visiting the home, an altercation ensued, and one of the visitors fired a handgun. The victim, a 17-year-old, was hit and wounded, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening wound.
Police detectives charged one of the suspects, a 17-year-old Manassas male, with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is in police custody, and there are no other suspects.
The shooting suspect and victim knew each other, police said, but they did not discuss the motive for the incident. The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be placed.
Police did not say whether the Government Center was placed on lockdown during the investigation.

6 years , $1700+ and 2 exams later : DMV Fairfax still revokes driving privelages (8 replies)
6 years of trying to co-ordinate with county , $1700+ and 2 passed exam later
DMV+Fairfax still revoking driving privelages (ie, work, live)
the whole thing started due to their "computer errors" (there were to) which i testify were not an error at all: they have a clear history of creating these "logic glitches" and attempting to profit from them
it's a saga they promised me couldn't happen , and sassed at me for saying a plain license renewal was around $1000

When did SOL Prep and Scores Become the Basis for 4th Quarter Grades? (4 replies)
Noticed a trend the last two years - the SOL prep work and SOL tests are becoming part of the year end grades. My kids have teachers assigning nightly SOL prep (graded) and last year had a history teacher than automatically awarded an A for anyone passing advanced on the SOL. I'm seeing more of the same thing this year.

Arrest warrant issued for suspect in quadruple homicide in Washington
D.C. police late Wednesday said they have identified a suspect in the killings of Savvas Savopoulos, his wife, young son and housekeeper, who authorities believe were held captive in the family’s Washington, D.C., home. Police said they had obtained a warrant for the arrest of Daron Dylon Wint, who they said is in his mid-30s and is from Maryland. They said they do not know his whereabouts. The break in the case came after police matched Wint to DNA found on the crust of a Domino’s pizza that had been ordered to the house the night of May 13 as the victims were being held, according to three law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation."
