STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- Two pounds of suspected cocaine were discovered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) inside shampoo bottles at Washington Dulles International Airport, officials say.
According to court documents, 39-year-old Eric Eduardo Estacuy Juarez arrived at Dulles on a flight from Guatemala through Panama. He was sent to a "routine secondary examination as policy for arriving couriers," CBP officials said in a press release.
When officers began examining Juarez's belongings, they found three bottles of shampoo that appeared to be "constructed with a double wall."
"CBP officers cut one of the bottles near the top and found what appeared to be a white powdery substance wrapped in cellophane that allegedly field-tested positive for the presence of cocaine," the release stated.
All three bottles had the same substance and weighted a little more than two pounds, or 911 grams. The cocaine has a street value of about $60,000, CBP officials said.
Juarez was arrested and taken to Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents. He is charged with knowingly or intentionally importing a controlled substance, CBP officials said.
