Crime Solvers Programs Seek Suspects in Series of Robberies in the Region

Crime Solvers programs in Fairfax County and Prince William County are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the men responsible for robbing several cab drivers throughout the region. Since December 2012, at least six cab drivers have been robbed after parking their cabs. Detectives from each jurisdiction believe the same group of men is responsible for these incidents. The following robberies are believed to be related:
•Monday, December 3, 2012: Fairfax County – 8th Street and Lincoln Avenue at 6:05 a.m. A 39-year-old driver parked his cab and exited when another cab pulled up behind him. The driver exited, brandished a gun and demanded money. The victim complied and suspect fled.
•Saturday, March 30: Fairfax County – 5100 block of Lincoln Avenue at 6:26 a.m. A 34-year-old driver was walking to his cab when two suspects exited another car, brandished a handgun and took property from the victim. Both suspects fled in the other car.
•Thursday, June 20: Fairfax County – 6500 block of Cherokee Avenue at 2:10 a.m. A 51-year-old driver parked his car in a parking lot. Two suspects exited another vehicle, each brandishing guns. They took money and property from the victim and fled in the other car.
•Friday, June 21: Prince William County – 14000 block of Baneberry Circle at 3:48 a.m. A 54-year-old driver parked his vehicle and was approached by two suspects, one with a handgun. The suspects took property from the victim and fled in their vehicle.
•Sunday, June 23: Fairfax County – 6400 block of Wingate Street at 3:45 a.m. A 29-year-old driver parked his cab and exited. He was approached by a suspect brandishing a handgun. The suspect took cash and property from the victim and fled in another car.
• Another robbery case in a nearby jurisdiction is also believed to be related.

The suspects in these cases have been described as black, in their 20s, wearing dark-colored clothing and armed with handguns. The first suspect is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 175 pounds. The second suspect is about 6 feet 2 inches tall, 180 pounds. The suspects have been seen driving taxi cabs during these reported robberies. Detectives have determined these cars were previously stolen and then abandoned after the robbery.

Anyone with information about these suspects or the robberies is asked to contact Fairfax County Crime Solvers or Prince William County Crime Solvers by phone at 1-866-411 TIPS(8477). Tipsters may also report their tips anonymously by email by visiting www.fairfaxcrimesolvers.org or by texting “TIP187” plus your tip to CRIMES(274637). A $100 to $1,000 cash reward is being offered by each Crime Solvers program for information that leads to an arrest in their jurisdiction. As always, tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court.
