Patch Repeats McAuliffe Lie on Transportation (8 replies)

Greg Hambrick over at Patch has an article today that repeats the Terry McAuliffe press release on the Virginia Transportation Bill.

The article runs on several Patch sites in Northern Virginia.

Hambrick tries to phrase the article as McAuliffe "trading jabs" with Ken Cucinelli instead of actually reporting the truth. The truth is that McAuliffe is claiming credit where none is due, according to fellow Democrats.

McAuliffe's claim has already been thoroughly debunked by legislators, including Sen. Chap Petersen and Sen. Chuck Colgan – two Democratic lawmakers who actually participated in the process. They both said McAuliffe had little, if anything, to do with passage of the transportation bill.

“I don’t know if [McAuliffe] tried to reach me,” said Sen. Petersen.
Sen. Colgan went further, telling the Washington Times that McAuliffe never spoke to him.

I’m sure McAuliffe’s statement is accurate in that McAuliffe probably did call a Democratic legislator or two, but the implication that it mattered is wholly inaccurate when you consider that even Del. Vivian Watts is skeptical.
But more to the point: McAuliffe is once again traveling Virginia discussing his commitment to jobs and green energy.

Any article about McAuliffe and transportation should at least mention GreenTech, McAuliffe's green car company headquartered in a closet in Tysons that passed over Virginia to create its factory in Mississippi.

Need we remind everyone how McAuliffe’s latest green adventure is performing? Hint: sadly, not well.
