The Middleburg-based Mosby Heritage Area Association will kick off its popular Conversations in History lecture series March 23 at Mt. Zion Church on Rt. 50 east of Gilbert’s Corner.

The 4 p.m. lecture will be held in the 162-year-old church that was the scene of several engagements during the Civil War. The first installment features MHAA Director of Education Rich Gillespie who will speak on “1864—The year of Total War in the Loudoun Valley.” Gillespie will explore the activities in the region—as well as the impact on soldiers and civilians alike during that penultimate year of the conflict.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority. Admission is $10 for adults. Students are admitted free.
