Police are searching for two armed men and their getaway driver after a Monday afternoon robbery at the Check into Cash store in Lake Ridge.

The two men walked in to the store in Dillingham Square off Old Bridge Road around 1 p.m. and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

A third suspect remained in a getaway vehicle, described as a white or silver four-door sedan with dark-tinted windows.

Both robbers were black, about 20 to 30 years old, said Prince William County police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

One was about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and wore a mask, camouflage jacket and black jeans.

The second was about six feet tall and 220 to 230 pounds with a heavy build. He was last seen wearing a mask, puffy jacket with a hood, blue jeans and red and black shoes.

Police don’t have a description of the getaway driver.

Lake Ridge, Westridge and Springwoods elementary schools were briefly place in "secure the building" mode while police searched for the suspects.

The robbery follows Friday’s night deadly encounter at Platanillos Grocery and Jewelry in Woodbridge, in which three armed men entered the store on U.S. 1 in Woodbridge and shot two employees, killing one. There have been no arrests in that case.

The check-cashing store in Dillingham Square has been robbed several times. Last year, the store was robbed on both May 23 and June 8. This fall, a GNC store in the same shopping center was robbed.
