Two Bristow men were arrested in Ocean City, Maryland last week after officers pulled the men over for a seatbelt violation and found weapons in the car.
An officer stopped the men Thursday, September 5, around 2 p.m. near 3rd Street and Philadelphia Avenue. As he walked to the car, he saw used shotgun shell cartridges inside, a large folding knife on the driver's pocket, and smelled burnt marijuana, Ocean City police said in a news release.
The driver told the officer "there was a loaded semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun in the vehicle and that he did not have a handgun permit in the State of Maryland," police said.
Officers had the driver and passenger get out of the vehicle while police searched the car. Officers found a handgun, "loaded magazines, two other large fixed blade knives and a metal throwing tomahawk," police said.
The driver, Charles Michael Reynolds, 22, of Bristow, was charged with two counts of possession of a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a handgun on his person and possession of a handgun in a vehicle.
The passenger, Ryan Zachary Pritchard, 21, of Bristow, was charged with two counts of possession of a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a handgun on his person and possession of a handgun in a vehicle.
They were both released without bond, police said.
