Effective July 1, 2013, a new 2 percent state transient occupancy tax will be imposed in the Northern Virginia Region. The new regional transient occupancy tax will be a state tax, but it will be administered by the locality in which the room or space is located in the same manner as its current local transient occupancy tax.
Affected localities are the Cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park, and the Counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William.
